Well, my uncle seems to be doing somewhat better today. There has been no further talk (at this point) about a liver transplant. His new doctors talk about weakness on one side of his heart and (again, at this point) seem to think that when they get his heart working right, the liver and kidney issues will correct themselves. The spike in enzyme levels, they believe, could be triggered by a side effect of the underlying heart weakness.
Not that he's out of the woods. There's still the pneumonia to get rid of and some speculation about the possibility of the return of lung cancer (which Uncle Tony survived some years ago) - they'll be running some x-rays to rule it out when his congestion's gone. All in all, the news seems better to me than "needs a liver transplant."
More news as it comes in.
